GOD first...Heavenly Father, love is not easy. To love someone as we love ourselves, Lord, we fail You and one another. Help us Lord to forgive someone, even though we are challenged by their attitude toward us, be it a stranger, family, ourself, or someone we meet. Even as we struggle to love others, we receive the greatest love of all, Your Amazing Grace. We ask in the name of the one who sacrificed his life for our forgiveness, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.
**An old farmer goes to his doctor for his annual checkup but finds his doctor has retired so he's seeing a new younger one.
During the checkup, the doc asks the old farmer to remove his pants but realizes that the farmer is not wearing underwear.
“You don't have any underwear!”
“What's an under wear?”
“It's a piece of clothing that you put on before your pants. It's cleaner, warmer, and more comfortable.”
The doctor finishes the checkup and the farmer goes home. But he keeps thinking about the underwear so decides to buy some before going home.
The next day, he decides to try them on as he starts his day and gets on his tractor.
After awhile, he feels a #2 coming up. He stops his tractor in the middle of the field and does what he has done for many years, drops his pants and squats and does his deed. But he forgot the underwear and as he gets up, he notices there is nothing on the ground.
“It is cleaner!” As he gets back on his tractor and sits, he exclaimed, “It is warmer and more comfortable too.”
We were blessed with an inch of rain this past week. Some places south of Nordhem received an inch and a half. It came as a cold front bringing cooler temperatures for a day or so. Sure did feel good too. Thank You God.
This past Monday, the Nordheim School held its annual Veterans Day celebration honoring those who served here from the local area. Also last Friday, a group of our citizens dedicated a new flag pole at the Nordheim School and then decorated the street of Broadway with American Flags. Really showed off the town's dedication to the past era.
Last week, there was a Happy Birthday celebration at the Nordheim Rec. Center on the 2nd of November. Carolyn Rios became 60yrs old. I can still remember her in diapers as the new daughter of Elo and Mary Pfeifer. Born on November 2, 1998. Time sure does fly...
One of my memories as a young man, I was living next to the San Antonio River and at the age of 8, I heard a lot of laughter coming from down below the cow pen and it seemed they were having a good time. Curious as a young man with nothing to do, I heard a bunch of girls screaming and having the time of their lives splashing in the water. I sneaked down to see what was going on. What I saw was... they didn't have any bathing suits on...all ten of them. As I inched closer under cover, I got an eye full and to this day, I still haven't seen such a beautiful sight. One doesn't forget something like this and can still see it in my dreams. As I got closer, I got careless and was caught by one of the girls who shouted, 'There's a little boy up there watching us!' They all screamed and started laughing as I made a hasty retreat back to the house. All I could hear as I made the escape was, 'Come back here little boy, we want to talk to you,' or something to that effect. Since I was the only boy in the area, I had no intention of going back. I was the only one that was embarrassed on that day. That was the beginning of my education out behind the barn. See you next week.
