He is survived by his daughter, Robin Wood (Scott Wade); son, Robert Wood II (Wendy) and grandchildren, Benjamin Wood (Shenell), Marley Wade, and Rachel Miller (Robert).

He was married for 66 years before Mary’s passing. Bob served eight years in the United States Air force, followed by 10 years in the Air Force National Guard, from which he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant.

After moving to Cuero in 1970, he quickly became a fixture of the community. He taught English at Cuero Junior High School, followed by English and Speech at Cuero High School. Bob was also a reporter for the Cuero Record and served two terms as Justice of the Peace. But he was best known as a wedding and portrait photographer. Bob and Mary loved taking pictures, and took many trips and cruises in their retirement years specifically to hone their skills behind the camera.

He was active in Lions Club, American Legion, DeWitt County Shutterbugs and First United Methodist Church. Bob will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger. He frequented the afternoon social gathering at Dairy Queen, enjoying visiting with old friends and making new ones.

Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, 1:00 pm at Freund Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Lindsey Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Goliad.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cuero Lions Club or an organization of the donor’s choosing.
