GOD first... Heavenly Father, it is hard to forgive others when we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. You forgive us because we are loved by You unconditionally. Give us strength as we pray: to love others around us with forgiveness as You forgive us. Cast away our doubts. Help us to understand the power of love of Your Amazing Grace. We ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harm's way.
**Sam is known for his happy chickens... He dies...God tells him that because he took great care of his chickens, He's going to return him to earth as a chicken.
He opens his eyes and he's surrounded by other chickens. He asked one, how to lay eggs. The other chickens tell him to concentrate and squeeze. The rest comes easy. Best chickens can lay up to 2 eggs.
He feels the need to become the best chicken out there so he starts squeezing and pushing...one pops out and then another. The other chickens yell at... Sam, Sam... suddenly he feels a tap on his shoulder when his wife says, 'Sam, wake up. You pooped all over the bed again.'
A few people have noticed activity at the Broadway Bar this week as Cathy Humpfry is cleaning it up and getting it ready for sale. She's had some volunteers helping her and a lot of people asking questions. Maybe, just maybe, somebody will buy it. But it ain't ready yet.
The Nordheim SPY group(St. Paul Youth) sang with the choir last Sunday and they sounded very good. SPY meets every Friday after school. The attendance has been increasing again this year with new students joining.
Kaffee Klatch has made a comeback after last week's attendance with only six people showing up. This week, we had 14 people and the conversations were some explaining why they weren't there last week. Most of them had doctor appointments and we had to listen to all the complaints of calling for an opening to visit their doctor which seem to be common these days. Discussions about old bulls, sick bulls, goats, old people, skinny dipping in their youth, and mostly stories of experiences remembering names of those forgotten and relationships to who was related to who. Some we haven't seen or talked to in years. We remembered some with laughter and some with tears. It's great to listen about where they are now and the places they worked since leaving Nordheim. Also, relatives all around. If you once lived in Nordheim and have lost contact, please let us know.
This past Saturday, there was a gala event that was well attended here in Nordheim. One of our local girls was married at the St. Paul Lutheran Church followed by a reception at the Nordheim Shooting Club. She was Kathryn Garcia and now she is Kathryn Garcia Hamilton and her husband is Lile Hamilton. The couple will be living in Nordheim next to the old icehouse on Broadway in a cozy little house built for two. Friends and relatives came from all around to help them celebrate the nuptial beginning of their new lives together. Mr, and Mrs. Lile Hamilton, we wish you a long and joyful life together with many happy memories.
Taylor and Andrew Malcom held a gender and diaper celebration at their home in Hobson with many guests anticipating learning if it is a boy or girl that will unite them sometime next March. Yes, it's a boy. He is going to be their first baby and it will surely be spoiled rotten by all the aunts, grandmothers. and relatives.
The hot mix paving of Hwy. 72 is almost 90% complete with final paving being done this week and the next. People driving from Dewitt County line to Cuero have had to put up with waits in sections where there was one lane traffic. First phase of the construction of widening the road and repaving is the one that is almost 90% finished between the County line and Yorktown with a lot going on between Yorktown and Cuero. It looks like the first phase will be completed by the year 2025. Some people, who are avoiding the long waits, are taking alternate routes which are longer and safer for them. If you are traveling at night, be extra careful as the deer population has taken over in places. It's the rutting season and when bucks are chasing, cars and trucks are not in their minds. A lot of them become buzzard meat.
Christmas in Nordheim will be the next celebration we will have next week on the first of December which I will be reporting more about in detail. See you next week.
