Community Thanksgiving

Christmas at Nordheim
On Sunday, December 1 starting at 10:00 a.m., 25 vendors will be set up in the Nordheim Fire Station. They will be selling their goods until 7:00 p.m. that evening. For lunch, the Nordheim Museum will be selling a Brown Bag Special, consisting of a sandwich, chips, and drink for $8.00. Billy Fischer will be singing at 12:00 Noon.
Santa Claus coming to Nordheim
The Friends of Nordheim will sponsor “Santa Claus is Coming to Town' on Sunday, December 1. Santa will arrive at 6:00 p.m. at the Nordheim Recreation Center, next to Nordheim City Hall.
The 2025 Nordheim Senior class will be serving a $10.00 Chili Meal beginning at 5:00 p.m. until sold out. The Herman Sons Dancers will perform at 5:30 p.m. in the Recreation Center.
The Christmas Tree will be lit at 6:00 p.m. as Santa arrives.
TPA
The Traveler’s Protection Association (TPA) will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 3 at 8:30 a.m. at Banhof Cafe (213 W Main) All members and prospective members are encouraged to join us for a free breakfast.
Fire Department Fundraiser
The Yorktown Fire Department will be having their annual stew fund raiser on December 5 at the Yorktown Fire Station. We are currently needing to purchase new SCBA's for our members since our current ones are reaching the end of their life expectancy. Stew will be served at 5:00 pm that day and will serve until sold out. We will also have our raffle on that date. This is a mandatory weigh-in. All market steers, heifers, sheep, breeding sheep, goats, breeding goats, and swine need to be present to weigh-in. YHS Class of 2025 Project Graduation
The Yorktown Class of 2025 Project Graduation presents “Let’s Get LIT Bingo Night for Guys and Gals.” It will be held Saturday, December 7, at Gruenau Hall, 1012 Gruenau Road, Yorktown. Doors open at 5 p.m. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. Bingo will begin at 7 p.m.! V.I.P. tables are available for $325. Reserved tables are $300. Individual tickets will be available for $35 each. There will be a table decorating contest, silent auction, and bucket draw.

Chili & Gun Raffle Scholarship Fundraiser
The DeWitt County Go Texan Committee will be having their annual chili fundraising event on Thursday, December 12 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Hall, between 5-8 p.m. The chili will be $10 per quart and will be “to go” only. The Go Texan Committee is also currently selling gun raffle tickets. Chili tickets and gun raffle tickets can be bought from all Go Texan members, but for convenience they can also be purchased at the DeWitt County Extension Office. These two fundraising events are held annually to benefit the local scholarship program, which has enabled the committee to award approximately $170,000 to local high school graduates over the past 10 years!
