Hello my fellow Cueroites It's been a few weeks since my last message. To say I have been busy is an understatement. Velma and I took a much needed break with a 10day cruise to Central America, November 1525. We visited Cozumel, Costa Rica, Panama and Honduras. Although I enjoyed the visit to our neighbors south of us, I was reminded how blessed we are in our United States. I ran into a couple from Gonzales as we traversed the Panama Canal, which was breathtaking. Both commented on how much they love Cuero, Turkeyfest, Christmas in the Park, Cuero Christmas downtown were a few of the events we talked about. I also met a couple from Waco, and of course the Cuero Gobblers was the talk of this conversation, as Cuero has had many Cuero Gobblers play for the Baylor Bears. I am so PROUD of our Cuero Gobbler team this year. Although the season has ended, the many memories, lessons learned and representations of the City of Cuero will last a lifetime. Thank you young men, well done!!
On Monday November 25, we returned to Cuero at 2:00 pm from our cruise, and attended the first ribbon cutting event to officially open Christmas in the Park 2024 at 6:00 p.m. On Tuesday, November 26, I attended the Christmas tree lighting and Christmas carols singing downtown under the public library pavilion at 6:00 pm. I was told unofficial numbers for both events were 1000 participants. The children were treated to an awesome time, with hot chocolate and cookies on Monday and walking the park enjoying the new scenes and listening to Christmas music on the new speaker system and Christmas ornament making to be placed on the Christmas tree on Tuesday. Huge shout out to the Cuero Chamber of Commerce, Cuero Development Corporation and Mainstreet Director for their time and work on putting together both the community events.
Thanksgiving was outstanding. Spent time with family and friends and took time to reflect on our blessings throughout the year. Will be busy in the coming weeks, closing out old business for 2024 and preparing for 2025. Christmas Downtown is scheduled for Friday December 13 and Saturday December 14. Please make plans to attend and support our local businesses and allow the children time to enjoy themselves. Shop Cuero First!!!
