From South Texas Blood & Tissue: Congratulations to YISD students and families for another Record Breaking -amazing life-saving event! October 5th was a HUGE day! There were 26 sign-ups, and 44+ heroes showed up!
In total, 41 life-saving units of blood were collected on a goal of 18 for 228%!!! That’s enough blood to potentially help nearly 125 patients!!!
This was the #1 largest blood collection in all of South Texas as of 11-21-2024 !!!! (over 43 counties) Looking back, YISD had a HUGE blood drive in February that brought in 39 units. These two blood drives have been the largest blood drives on record for the Yorktown Community and surrounding towns.
Nurse Knebel reports that these successful outcomes are due to the fact that Yorktown has a great community and very supportive parents. Student's families always go the extra mile and show up for their kiddos during blood drives not only to help save lives, but also to help their child earn their red cord as a bonus. The next drive is tentatively set for Wednesday, February 5th, 2025. Come out and join us in making a difference!
