GOD first...Heavenly Father, with every Thanksgiving, we are blessed with an abundance of greetings and fellowship that comes about by Your Grace as we continue this tradition in meaningful ways. You provide these blessings as our hearts are filled with giving and receiving by all those around us. Help us to challenge ourselves to do more for people in need or simply respond with a kind thank you. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen. Lord, I'm going Your way.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harms' way.
**A woman asked for a short legged Louisiana duckling and the butcher brought her a nice fresh duck. Shaking her head, the woman said, 'I'm not sure this is a short legged Louisiana duckling.'
The butcher said, 'I know it's a shortlegger Louisiana duckling. I'm positive it is.'
With that, the woman picked up the bird, and held it up to the light, looked through the carcass, thrust her finger inside through the rump, and started to feel around. 'This duckling,' the woman said after a complete examination, 'isn't from Louisiana. Are you trying to pull a fast one on me? Where are you from anyhow?'
The butcher turned his back to her, bent over, and said, 'Suppose you tell me!'
Yorktown EMS is asking to join them in celebrating on Sunday, December 8th from 12-2pm at the Yorktown Fire Station, the retirement of John Green who has given 20 years of hard work and service to the Yorktown EMS. His service has been recognized by folks in our area as well as those living in Nordheim. A lot of times, he was the first to arrive at the emergency call, giving aid and comfort to victims, ahead of the ambulance and crew. His knowledge and expertise has been a blessing to those who were in an accident or had medical needs.
Sunday, December 1st:
Some 20 vendors set up their booths at the Nordheim Volunteer Fire Station morning, anxious to sell their wares after 10am until 7pm, sponsored by the Nordheim Museum. The museum sold Brown Bag Specials that were included in the successful event. Billy Fischer sang various Christmas songs throughout the day, even to the effort of those putting up and decorating the beautiful Christmas tree in the center of Broadway. The Hermann Sons Dancers performed by 5:30 in front of the Rec Center as onlookers awaited Santa. When Santa arrived on the fire truck with loud horns blowing and sirens going, you could have seen the anticipation in the eyes of the young kids. The kids gave Santa all the information he needed to bring to the kids on Christmas morning. Some were excited while some didn't think it was in their best interest to be on the lap of Santa. Pictures were taken and each child was given a bag of goodies. Inside the Rec Center, the Nordheim Senior Class sold their Chili Dinner which was their fund raiser. All went well and the events, vendors, Museum, and all who came made it another success. A great big THANK YOU.
If you get a chance to pray, please pray for more rain. See you next week.
