Dear Editor,
Benjamin Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States; a drafter and signer of the Declaration of Independence and a Freemason. He believed that education was important for both individuals and society as a whole. Furthermore, he believed that an educated citizenry was essential for a strong democracy. Yorktown’s Cameron Masonic Lodge also believes in the importance of education and each year invites graduating seniors from Yorktown and Nordheim to apply for available scholarships. This year the Lodge awarded scholarships to Tyler Respondek, Kyndil Villarreal, and Kristiana Lopez.
Members of the Cameron Lodge thank and appreciate the support they have received through the years for their fundraising efforts from Yorktown, Nordheim and surrounding communities.
