DeWitt County Commissioners heard from Sheriff Carl Bowen at their meeting on November 25 about a hotel charge incurred by a former employee who did not attend training. Bowen had previously asked the county to pay the $171. 35, but withdrew that request.

“I came to the conclusion that this is not the fault of the taxpayer, but this is a fault of the practice,” Bowen said. “I was elected to be responsible. So, I would like to withdraw my request that the county pay $171.35. That would be paid by me.” In response to this incident, the Sheriff's Office canceled the credit card and implemented a new procedure to prevent similar issues in the future. The Commissioners Court decided to take 'No Action' on the matter.

In other business the court approved an appointment to the De-Witt County Child Welfare Board and accepted a land donation in Precinct 2.
