Elf on the Shelf Downtown Scavenger Hunt
From December 9th to 13th, join Cuero Municipal Library’s own Elf, Trixie, for a delightful downtown scavenger hunt. Families can search for Trixie and enjoy festive fun together!
Brunch Buddies and Bingo
Seniors 55 and older are invited to Brunch Buddies and Bingo on Thursday, December 12th from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Education Room at Cuero Regional Hospital. Seniors will enjoy a free meal, Podiatry presentation by Dr. Neil Campbell, and a few games of bingo with prizes! RSVP’s are required and open to the first 50 seniors only. Chili & Gun Raffle Scholarship Fundraiser
The DeWitt County Go Texan Committee will be having their annual chili fundraising event on Thursday, December 12 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Hall, between 5-8 p.m. The chili will be $10 per quart and will be “to go” only. The Go Texan Committee is also currently selling gun raffle tickets. Chili tickets and gun raffle tickets can be bought from all Go Texan members, but for convenience they can also be purchased at the DeWitt County Extension Office. These two fundraising events are held annually to benefit the local scholarship program, which has enabled the committee to award approximately $170,000 to local high school graduates over the past 10 years! Christmas in Downtown Volunteers
We hope you, your organizations and friends can lend a hometown hand in hosting guests at the 12th Annual Christmas in Downtown Cuero. This has become a sig- nature event for our community and we’re proud to show off what we do! Our attractions are amazing and need volunteers on Saturday Dec. 14th, 12-10 p.m. for 2 hour shifts, only to collect tickets from the kiddos (or adults) prior to accessing the rides/ice skating/petting zoo and all. Enjoy Cookies with Santa and Bunco on Sunday, December 15, 2-4 p.m. at the Yorktown Historical Museum. The entry fee for bunco is to bring 2-3 non-perishable items, which will be donated to YAM.
Deputy Santa requests, donations
DeWitt County parents of children in need can request items from the Deputy Santa program. Forms are available at the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office (208 E. Live Oak, Cuero/ 77954), the Yorktown City Hall, the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Co., or the Juvenile Probation Office and must be returned to the DeWitt County Sheriffs Office or Yorktown City Hall by no later than 5 p.m., December 16. Donations of UNwrapped toys and wrapping paper are welcome at the same sites as Wishlists. Monetary donations can be mailed or brought in anytime. Christmas Storywalk
From December 16th to 20th, experience a unique Christmas Storywalk along the DeWitt County Courthouse’s sidewalk and courtyard, where families can stroll through a festive narrative, hosted by the Cuero Municipal Library.
Mid Coast Family Craft
On December 17th at 4:30 PM, join the Cuero Municipal Library for a fun family craft session with Mid Coast Family Services.
Hayrides at Christmas in the Park
Every Wednesday until January 1, the Cuero Volunteer Fire Department is hosting hayrides through the Christmas in the Park from 6-9 p.m.
Night of Lights
Walk with friends and family through the beautiful light display in Cuero Park on January 2, at 6:30 p.m. Meet at the Cuero Park Pavilion. Sponsored by CRH and Cuero Wellness Center.
Substitute, Cafeteria Worker, Bus Driver Training
The Cuero ISD will hold its substitute training on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cuero ISD Administration Office located at 960 East Broadway, Cuero. All substitutes must attend this training. New applicants need to bring a copy of their social security card, driver’s license, and transcript or diploma to the training as well. Little League Registration
Registration for the 2025 Cuero Little League season is currently open and will all be conducted online, on our website, cuerolittleleague. com. The last day to register is January 15, 2025. Family Storytime
Every Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. the Cuero Municipal Library has Family Storytime. This engaging program features crafts, snacks, stories, and fun activities tailored for children aged 0-5.
Senior Coffee Hour & Social

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home. Games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

DeWitt County Shutterbugs
Do you love photography? Do you want to learn more, be inspired, challenged? Do you want to get together with other creative photographers? If so, please join us at a Shutterbugs meeting. Meetings are held on every third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cuero, 408 N. Gonzales Street. Please enter through the front door under the awning. Child Find Evaluations
School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families.
