Help wanted: Christmas in the Park needs nativity volunteers

Hello All, Congratulations are in order for the Stevenson Unit, who achieved an excellent rating in their American Correctional Accreditation (ACA) audit, last week. I met with ACA auditors who praised the Stevenson Unit staff and the City of Cuero community support. On Thursday 12/12, I welcomed Foster Families from the Golden Crescent area to Cuero at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum. Shout out to Ms. Viola Holman and volunteers for putting together an awesome event, to include Angels with lighted wings and the Yorktown school band playing Christmas music. The City of Cuero’s Christmas dinner at the Venue on 12/12 was enjoyed by all. I am proud of each city employee and the work they do 365 days a year for the Citizens of Cuero.

The Mayor’s Youth Council volunteered hours to the success of Christmas Downtown this weekend, 12/1314. Although the weather was less than ideal, folks came out to enjoy the activities and music on both days. Live music, horse drawn carriage rides, food trucks and many vendors under the library pavilion were enjoyed and visited by many. As I walked through the downtown area, I was filled with joy watching the downtown businesses visited and supported by the event’s attendees. Shout out to our Main Street Director, Sandra Osman, who orchestrated and supervised the entire event, the Chamber of Commerce staff (Angie/Sara), Cuero Development Corporation staff (Maggie/Samantha) and City staff, so many to name each one, who worked countless hours to ensure the event’s success.

Charla Jones, in charge of the live nativity scene at Cuero’s Christmas in the Park, is in need of volunteers this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 19, 20 and 21. Students, families and individual volunteers are needed to play Joseph, Mary, Angels and 4-5 Shepherds. Costumes are furnished and someone will be there to give instructions. Shifts are for 45 minutes, starting at 6:00 pm, volunteers will meet at the park's rock house. The live nativity scene is a meaningful part of Christmas in the Park, which is visited by folks from all over Texas. You can make this event a family or friends bonding event. Interested individuals may call Ms. Judy Adams at 214223-4861 for more information. More to follow!
