As the weather shifts from warm to cold, lights are hung on houses, and the scent of Christmas fills the small town of Yorktown, everyone congregates for the yearly Downtown Christmas celebration.

By helping others in creating their own reindeer food, the Girl Scouts spread the spirit of Christmas. The Lutheran Church handed out popcorn and books. To cheer up many ears, the YHS band performed Christmas carols.

“It made me happy seeing everyone enjoy the music that we played,” Johnathan Guerrero said.

Yorktown EMS had a game for everyone to play, and the Lions Club had a raffle drawing. Christa Leigh’s School of Dance brought smiles to everyone’s faces as the young girls danced the night away.

“At Christa Leigh’s School of Dance we love to give back to our community, and having our girls dance at downtown Christmas does just that, along with bringing our own Christmas spirit to the event,” Christa Garcia said.

After many activities, the class of 2025 served hot chocolate and bush sandwiches to warm and fill the bodies of everyone.

“It was really nice to be downtown with Project Grad at Christmas downtown. I think it was a good way to help us fundraise and get our name out into the community,” Malayshia Thomas said.

Children clapped and cheered when Santa arrived on Main Street in the large red fire truck. Kids have the opportunity to sit on Santa's lap and share their Christmas wishes with him. By volunteering to shoot images of children sitting on Santa's lap and catching the endless reactions to seeing him, the yearbook staff members showed off their photographic skills.

“I liked taking all the pictures of the kids because I got to see them be happy when they saw Santa and capture the memories that will last a lifetime,” Brilye Campbell said.
