For the last few days everyone in the world seems to be running scared of what the coronavirus has done and will possibly do. It seems people don’t realize that we have had these type concerns before. For Christians we all realize that if ‘God brings us to it, He will see us through it.’
Maybe it is time we evaluate what we are doing with our lives and how we are impacting the ones around us. For many in our country, as well as a lot of other countries, people fear what this virus is and can do to us and/or our loved ones. I believe this is a devastating disease and I also believe much of the seriousness is fabricated through a media with a political bias. We are told by different media outlets what we can do to prevent the disease and all us should adhere to what we are being told.
I don’t doubt for a minute that that this virus can be spread easily among us, especially to people my age and above. My wife and I are doing as the medical doctors, through the media, are telling us and staying inside in hopes that this will soon also pass.
The medical profession is working hard to find a cure and I believe they will. For the amount of people that are being affected because of school closings, employment layoffs, ball game cancellations, etc., we should use our down time for consistent prayers to God to eliminate the situation. Our world has changed tremendously over the past few years and I must say it probably has been for the worse.
We have put God on the back burner in so many situations and don’t depend on Him as our ancestors did. Now that we have done this many of us, especially Christians and many non-Christians, are asking if this is a sign that we are coming to the end times? We are told in Luke 21:11 about famines and pestilences as a sign of the end times. According to Webster’s New World College Dictionary pestilence is described as ‘any virulent or fatal contagious or infectious disease, one of epidemic proportions…’ Of course, no one knows when Jesus is coming again and He tells us this in Matthew 24:44; “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Are you ready? With what is happening in the world today it is hard to dispute what the Bible tells us about the end times. None of us know when our last day on earth will be but many will not be ready to meet the Lord. The time is now for you to put your trust in Jesus and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Let Him into your heart and be your guide to a life that is controlled by Him instead of the world.
Make time for Him. Talk to Him everyday and listen to His small still voice. Tell everyone you know about His saving grace, especially your family and friends. Only Jesus knows if we are in the end times but all of us need to be ready to meet Him when He calls us home.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for your saving grace for a sinner such as I. I pray Lord that this coronavirus will go away and not spread throughout the world. I pray that a cure will be found and that all of us will praise you for that cure. Amen.
