Keep Cuero Beautiful sponsored its yearly “Something from Nothing” holiday ornament contest, encouraging students to create and make a holiday ornament using materials which could be recycled— styrofoam, plastic, wooden sticks, glass jars, bottle tops, and wood.
The age categories were kindergarten and 1st grade, and 2nd-4th grade with 108 entries. Congratulations to all who entered.
The winners were announced by the committee members Katelynn Meitzen, Acenet, Davis, and Emily Davis:
Kindergarten-1st grade
1st place—Benito Solis; 2nd place—Drake Jackson; 3rd place— Karelynn & Daisy Bowerman.
Honorable Mention— Luke Rendon.
2nd-4th grades 1st place—James Tate; 2nd place— Landon Schlenker; 3rd place—Max Leslie- Mees.
Honorable mention (alpha order): Austin Baros, Magnolia Borkowski, Jentzen Campos, Abriella Garibay, Finn Jaroszewski, and Izaiah Pena.
Students may pick up their prizes of a gift card from Green Cow Creamery at the Cuero Library. The public is encouraged to stop by the Library through January 10 to view the ornaments decorating the Library’s Christmas tree.
