GOD first...Heavenly Father, You lavish us with generous blessings but still we question our direction in life and our relationships with others. We ask for help and support to guide our spiritual journey as we travel these days in helping those around us as we ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harms' way.
**A man was being escorted by a doctor in an institution and as they went by one room he saw a man sitting in a corner playing with a doll. The man asked the doctor what was wrong with him. He said he went crazy when another man caused his wife to get a divorce and later married her. As they continued down the hall, a terrible noise came from one of the cells. The man asked, 'What is wrong with him?' The doctor said, 'He's the one who married her!'
As of December 15, last week, we received one and one fourth inches of rain. Thank You Lord.
Lots of people have said to me, 'Good to see you.' In response, I tell them it's good to be seen. I cherish those words more often than I care to say. My dad often said that he had outlived his enemies and friends at his age. At that time he was 94.
I have neglected to write thank you cards to all the people who attended my birthday party in October and as days go by, I started looking for addresses and found some in the mail that had return addresses and after so many days of procrastination, I finally realized that I have waited too long.
As I sat in the kitchen, I went through all the birthday cards and all the notes that people sent and wrote that evening. To those who gave me cash, gift cards, cookies, and wrote so many gifts of love on notes, I sincerely thank them. Even those who could not attend for some reason or another, they still expressed a Happy Birthday that I carry in my heart.
Now, when I sit in the room alone and see the four walls closing in on me, now all I have to do is go through all the cards and notes in my bag of Happy Birthdays. Tears of complete gratitude fill my eyes as I realize how many friends and kinfolk are still in my life along with the friends of Kaffe Klatch. HEB also thanks you. Every night before I go to sleep, I pray to GOD for all the blessings that have made me rich knowing that many people still care for me.
As we celebrate Christmas this year, I still miss my sweet Mary. It is heavy grieving in my heart but a blessing GOD had given me to dwell on these lonely days. I know I'm not the only one who has gone through losing their spouse or loved one. I certainly feel your loss.
To all those who have read my columns all these plus 25 years, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. If you haven't yet been looking up Broadway Street in Nordheim, it is a wonderful sight to see at night with all the beautiful lights that adorn the tree. It's been a yearly tradition for some time and it is a beautiful symbolism of The City of Nordheim. A small town with a big heart.
As some of the work on the new highway has been delayed, some improvements have already begun on adding more entrances to the highway from some of the City streets. We were told at the beginning that there would only be three entrances to the highway. I guess our Mayor has some power with the state yet. We know that they can't work on much until it dries off but we need the rain more than we need the road. Hopefully, we'll see you next week
