The DeWitt County Commissioners banned two types of fireworks for New Year’s celebrations at the December 9 meeting: the “skyrockets with sticks” and “missiles with fins” cannot be sold or detonated in any portion of the unincorporated area of De-Witt County.
Christmas Tree Forest & Food Drive
Yorktown’s Historical Society is hosting a Christmas Tree forest, which can be viewed every Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 during the month of December at the Yorktown Historical Museum. In conjunction with the forest, the Historical Society along with the Chamber of Commerce is holding a food drive, collecting non-perishable food items to be given to the Yorktown Assistance Ministry (YAM) to help feed those less fortunate in our community. Food items can be dropped off at the museum on weekends or at the Chamber office during the week.
Grief Share Program The Grief Share Program will once again be offered in Yorktown at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall beginning on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 6:30 pm for a series of 13 sessions and we invite you to join us.
