Gobbler senior Conner Kubesch earned the distinguished rank of Elite Team in this year’s Texas High School Coaches Association’s academic all-state football team. Several of his teammates were named to the 1st and 2nd team as well. The team recognizes senior athletes, trainers and managers who excel in GPA (grades 9-12), class rank and ACT/SAT score. The Elite Team requires a near perfect score in all categories.
Kubesch has a gradepoint average 4.05, graded out a 101.25 on the 100-point scale and scored 1,430 on his SAT. Playing tight end and linebacker this season, he tore a medial collateral ligament in the season-opener against Columbus and didn’t return until Week 8 against Sinton.
Kubesch had nine catches for 129 yards and five touchdowns, and made 27 tackles.
