Annie Jane Moczygemba Brysch, age 91, of Runge went to celebrate Christmas with Jesus on His birthday on the morning of December 25, 2024. She was born to August Frank Moczygemba and Bridget Jarzombek Moczygemba on March 24, 1933, in Kosciusko, Texas, and she was the seventh of their ten children.

She attended grade school in Kosciusko and graduated from Poth High School in 1951 where she excelled at volleyball since she was 5’ 11.5” tall. She was a member of the Pep Squad, the Annual Staff, and the F.H.A. On October 5, 1954, she married Vincent Leon Brysch of Runge, and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together. Vincent always joked that she had to marry him because he was the only man in the area who was taller than her and wasn’t related to her! Together they proudly raised five children and built a family farm and ranch near Runge. Annie was a member of the Runge PTA for 30 years, was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and served as president of the Runge V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #9189.

Annie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her grandchildren affectionately called her Bebe. She loved hosting family at their home and often stayed up well past midnight or till dawn playing dominoes! Even at age 90, she and Vincent still hosted Christmas at the farm in 2023. She was a devout Catholic with an unwavering faith in the power of prayer with her rosary and prayer cards always nearby. Her family believed that she had a direct line to God and never hesitated to ask for her powerful prayers. She made the best cinnamon rolls you’ve ever had! And her famous 12” Polish tortillas made with fluffy yeast dough were a family favorite. She raised her own free-range chickens which made her fried chicken even more delicious. She fiercely protected her chickens. Many a snake and varmint met its death at the end of her garden hoe. She was fearless! She always had a huge garden, and everyone (even her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!) loved her fresh homegrown spinach and okra. We didn’t appreciate the fresh food as children and now people pay a premium for what we enjoyed every day. She loved flowers and planted roses, daisies, and bluebonnets all around their home.

She is survived by her husband Vincent Brysch of Runge; her children, Linda Yanta and husband Zack of Runge, Karen Salsman and husband John of Driftwood, Vinette Scott and husband Terry of New Braunfels, Michael Brysch and fiancé Wendy of San Antonio, and Larrie Brysch and wife Brenda of Dripping Springs; grandchildren, Yvonne (Brant) Bourquin, Zachary (Gerilynne) Yanta II, Jeremy (Melissa) Aljoe, Josh Aljoe, Jessica (Jake) Mayo, Kurt Rathkamp “Kurt-Man”, Aaron (Tram) Brysch, Daniel (Joey) Brysch, and Rosalyn Brysch; great grandchildren, Bayne, Brynn, Bo, Ava, Ella, Zachary III, Ben, Cate, Weston, Corbin, and Nolan.

She is also survived by her sister Theresa Klar of Bergheim and her youngest brother August Moczygemba, Jr., of Kosciusko.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Rosie Moczygemba Kotzur, Joe Moczygemba, Ignatz Moczygemba, Edward Moczygemba, Johnny Moczygemba, Tommy Moczygemba, and Frankie Moczygemba.

Annie’s beautiful smile and sweet spirit will genuinely be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m on Friday, January 3rd at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. there that evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on January 4th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria. Burial will follow at the Panna Maria Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers (grandchildren): Zachary Yanta II, Jeremy Aljoe, Josh Aljoe, Kurt Rathkamp, Aaron Brysch, Daniel Brysch, and Rosalyn Brysch.
