Mayor Emil Garza proclaimed recently that he is hoping everyone will join in to make 2025 the “Year of Volunteerism” because there are so many ways citizens can volunteer or lend a hand at a non profit or a city event.
Pet Adoptions of Cuero, the non profit pet shelter, has a reason to brag about its wonderful supportive dog walking and dog and cat socializing crew. These folks have shown up regularly, come rain, shine, cold or heat, to see that the homeless pets get some exercise and some one-on-one attention. In addition, when they parade the pets down busy Highway 183 South lots of drivers see them. Calls come in or interested adopters stop by to inquire about a pet or two they saw being gingerly walked that morning.
This is a five star salute and BIG thank you to our long time 'walkers' Paul and Nelda Huber, our new in 2024 walkers from Goliad, Renee Stroman and Mindy Sullivan, and our in house pet and shelter helper, Lizzie Rosson. We also have Pat Kennedy - who has bonded with so many of our canines. They adore PAT!
