Sheriff Carl Bowen informed the DeWitt County Commissioners that six of 10 hot water heaters in the county jail were out of service during the regular meeting on January 13. Though the repair request was urgent due to possibilities of leaks, the jail will have to make due until the vendor submits a quote at the next Commissioner’s Court meeting.
Accompanied by Captain Garza and Adam Fanning from Brandt Companies, the sheriff reported that only four out of ten hot water heaters at the county jail were functioning. Six water heaters were out of service due to poor water quality, which had clogged the filters and corroded the lines.
Although the heaters had been repaired or replaced in the past, they were no longer under warranty. Fanning recommended installing a reverse osmosis system to improve water quality, replacing all heaters with Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters, and establishing a service maintenance contract. He stated that he would return to the Commissioners Court with a quote on January 27.
