GOD first...Heavenly Father, help us in our times of weakness. Give us strength to sustain us on our voyage in helping others in need. Guide us as we ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus. Amen.
**Husband: Where's today's newspaper?
Wife: I wrapped the garbage in it and threw it out.
Husband: I wanted to see it.
Wife: There wasn't anything to see. Only a banana peel, a steak bone, and some coffee grounds.
**An old man was driving his cart through a small town when he was stopped by a policeman. The policeman said he was going too fast.
'Have you been drinking?' the policeman asks.
' No, I haven't.' the old man replied.
' What's in that jug next to you?'
' It's banana juice.' ' I'll be the judge of that.' So the policeman takes the jug and takes a sip and 'Ugg, That's the most terrible stuff I've ever tasted!' He gives the old man back the jug and tells the old man to get going and don't come back.
The old man says, 'Giddy up Banana.'
The City of Nordheim is having sewer problems on North Street. Mayor Payne has been trying to find out why it was being stopped up and has asked a company to remove the man holes and run a line down from 8th street toward Highway 72 and unstop it. After cleaning all the lines going to the main line, it was determined that sand had accumulated from a leak somewhere on the main line. The company will run a camera down the line to try to see where the leak is and how bad it can be.
The main line runs on the east side of North Street and at one time was connected to another line to flow toward the west side of town. It is suspected that with all the heavy oil field traffic all these years, the main line has broken somewhere. Although the sewer line is made with heavy clay pipe, it was bound to fail at some point. Some water lines have also been reported to be broken by the same traffic. North Street will only be a one way street if and when digging begins.
Well, we finally got our January freeze this week. Hope you let the water drip and don't have any broken pipes. We are so lucky to be so far south. Can't imagine what people further up north are going through. It certainly was the time to get out the electric blanket and get under the covers. Had to crack open one of the windows to let in some fresh air because I still have a gas stove to heat up one room. Tried to find another heater a while back and was told that they don't make them anymore. New ones are obsolete now, just like I'm feeling now. Could buy a wall unit but you need to have it installed by a licensed professional. Guess city gas lines will soon be obsolete too. Might have to go back to burning wood. That would be bad cause I already gave my axe & chain saw away and all the termites have eaten up all the wood. Those that are responsible and make laws in government really can screw things up.
Hope you will attend the FFA stock show this weekend. Should be warmer by then. All the students need all the support they can get. You can bet that our community will be there to help. Put on extra warm clothes and be there to encourage each and every one of them. Don't forget to go by the Senior booth for some hot coffee and don't forget to go inside the school to view the exhibits and crafts. It won't take long to visit there and I'm sure you will find something interesting. Also, If you have relatives, if you're still young, you will find pictures and names of past graduates of Nordheim High School on the wall down the hall. Some of them have changed a lot and you might not recognize them but their names are important as they once passed through this hall many years ago. See you next week...I hope!
