Cuero ISD school board members approved the new transfer agreement, which is a memorandum of understanding (MOU), at the regular meeting on July 18. The new agreement does not affect fall enrollment, but it will impact the spring enrollment, according to Dr. Micah Dyer, CISD superintendent.
The DeWitt County school districts of Meyersville and Westhoff as well as Nursery ISD traditionally had an agreement that accepted their students for high school. The newly adopted MOU means students from those districts will no longer be universally accepted.
However, Board President Mary Sheppard said only issues with attendance or behavior would call into question the acceptance. Dyer said classroom availability would also determine transfer acceptances.
