The older I get the more I realize the memories of days gone by. They are treasures and something that I will take with me until the Lord calls me home. These cherished thoughts linger in mymindmostdaysandIam sure that others of the same ageIamandolder, remember thesetimesofthepastalso.

I remember as a child one of the songs we sung in church was an all-time favorite called “Precious Memories”. As I researched this song, I found it to be credited to the J.B.F. Wright as the author-composer in 1925. Unlike most modern-day writers and composers, Wright never taught, nor did he claim a great amount of music education. He wrote from inspiration, and in his own words, “…when words came spontaneously, flowing into place when I feel the divine urge.” “Precious Memories” has been recorded by many artists. Some shorten the verses or may even change the words, but the meaning is still the same.

Evidently Wright was like many of us are today. His memories of the past were good ones and his family was a treasured item that remained with himuntilheleftthisworld. Read the lyrics and see if they fit your past also:
