Anlowlevelearthquake centered in the Falls City area last Wednesday was felt throughout DeWitt County as well. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Falls City area around 9:30 p.m. on January 29.
“We were upstairs and felt everything shake,” RedMueller,aMainStreet business owner, said.
Residents in Nordheim, Yorktown and Cuero reported feeling the tremor on The Cuero Record Facebook page.
On an app called Earthquake, thetremormagnitude registered in DeWitt County as1.5ontheRichterscale.
Kathy Fehner, of Yorktown, said her chair and sofa swayed side-to-side around 9:30.
Increasedseismicactivity in the area in recent years has been linked to human activities, such as wastewater injection from oil and gas, according to reports by the University of Texas.

Residents marveled at experiencing tremors in DeWitt County. Maria De LosSantos,whogrewupin Cuero but has lived in Hawaii for 45 years, said the volcano she lives near causes tremors all the time.
“But in Cuero, unbelievable,” she said.
