Harlin Royce Gruetzmacher

Harlin Royce Gruetzmacher of Katy, Texas passed away on January 29, 2025. He was born in Yorktown, TX on June 19, 1933. Harlin grew-up and lived throughout life; birth through high school graduation; Yorktown, TX U.S. Army; Fort Bliss, TX and Japan Post Army years working for Texaco; Colorado, California, Texas Retirement years: Liverpool, TX and finally Katy, TX. He was married to Carlyn A. Voelkel on June 14, 1953 in Yorktown, TX. Harlin attended Yorktown high school, graduated in 1950 and later served in the U.S. Army, 1953-1955. His hobbies included antiques, restoring furniture, restoring and repairing antique clocks, vegetable gardening, and reading. Harlin was known for his loyalty, tenacity, curiosity, resourcefulness, Christian example, patriotic, no nonsense, and hard working.

Survived by his beloved wife, Carlyn; his brother, Frank (and Susan) Gruetzmacher; his sister, Glenna (and Don) Hartman; his son Randall Gruetzmacher, and his son, Anthony Gruetzmacher; his son, Jeffrey (and Donna) Gruetzmacher, and their children CDR Jeffrey (and Jordan) Gruetzmacher, USN, and Emily (and Stephen) Spencer; his son David (and Donna) Gruetzmacher and their children, Jennifer (and Matt) Stanley, Scott Gruetzmacher, and Mathew Gruetzmacher. Harlin is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Harlin was preceded in death by his parents Herman H. and Elvira (Hilmer) Gruetzmacher and sister Vernell (and Calvin) Rayes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy, TX.
