The Yorktown High School Class of 1963 held their 61st year reunion June 22, 2024, at the 5D Steakhouse in Yorktown at 11 a.m. Forty-one classmates, spouses, and guests attended the event.
A social time was held before the 12:30 p.m. meal, followed by a class meeting and photo session. The menu of grilled chicken breast on a bed of rice, mashed potatoes with a choice of gravy, seasoned green beans, rolls, peach cobbler, and iced tea was hosted by Don and Mavis Simecek. Mavis Mc-Cally Simecek was an English and Spanish teacher at YHS.
During the meeting appreciation was expressed to Alex and Patricia Bock along with John & Wanda Rabke Horny providing the cake and floral arrangements, and to Ray and Sheron Alex and Rex and Joyce Gips Ledbetter for gifting the venue accommodations. Classmates unable to attend were acknowledged by their comments sent to the Reunion Committee. Appreciation was expressed to the committee members Alex Bock, Dennis Henze, Elaine Hruska Malina, and Alice Dlugosch Poage for coordinating the event. Again, through the generosity of classmates, Wallace and Lin Lamprecht Migura, who will host the meal and Michael Gwodsz, son of Mary Respondek Gwosdz, who will gift the venue for the next reunion to be held in June 2025 at the 5D Steakhouse. The exact date and time will be announced later.
