It’s playoff time and the Cuero Lady Gobblers had no trouble coming through when they needed to. They rose to the challenge in a bi-district game versus Carrizo Springs, on February 10 with ease, trouncing the Wildcats 69-40 and squared up versus the Wimberley Texans on Thursday, Feb. 13, coming out on top 58-40, making them Area Champions. Thursday night’s game made it 17 straight on the winning side for the Lady Gobblers.

Versus the Wildcats Senior standout Arissa Carbonara netted an impressive 39 points and grabbed 22 rebounds.  Alongside her, Mauryana Dasilva had a significant impact with 13 points, demonstrating the depth of the Lady Gobblers’ roster.

The Lady Gobblers didn’t stop there. Their next challenge came against Wimberley, where they took the momentum into the Thursday night’s game producing a 58-40 win. In this matchup, Senior Aubrey Bowles stole the spotlight with   finishing with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 blocks. Bowles' all-around game was instrumental in suffocating the Lady Texan offense and helping maintain the Lady Gobblers’ defensive efforts on the game.  Carbonara once again showcased her skills, adding another 15 points and 12 rebounds to her stats, proving that her bi-district performance was no fluke. Mauryana Dasilva maintained her form, finishing with 13 points and 8 steals, highlighting her abilities on defense. Additionally, Jaydie Cooper made her presence felt with 6 steals, further showcasing the Lady Gobblers talented roster.

In the world of basketball, each game players and fans can experience a plethora of emotions, but the Lady Gobblers have shown they can handle the pressure. With their eyes set firmly on the next matchup, they are determined to make a meaningful run this postseason, striving to bring home a championship trophy.

Carbonara stated “We are excited for the third round. If we keep playing for each other, nothing can stop us!”

The Lady Gobblers head into the Regional Semis with a 30-6 record, preparing for their next game on Tuesday, Feb. 18, against the Sinton Lady Pirates in Goliad.

Coach Amy Crain noted, “Sinton is 25-10 and play fast and physical.  It should be a great matchup!”

Tip off for the game will be at 6:00.
