The public is invited to the dedication of a new historical marker installed at the English German School, 205 North Terrell on the grounds of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 3 p.m. The School received a historical medallion in 1963 and a small interpretive plate in 1965. Both are attached to the building. The new marker is on a post, is larger, and has additional information about the school’s signifi cance to the community in the late 1800s before free public schools were established in Cuero.
There are 113 historical markers in DeWitt County. The Texas Historical Commission marker program commemorates diverse topics in Texas history: people, events, homes and other buildings, organizations, cemeteries, and military sites. Anyone interested in sponsoring a marker can work with the De-Witt County Historical Commission to submit an application.
