Board of directors chosen for Main Street Program

The Main Street Program has now officially started with the selection of the board of directors.
Seven people were appointed to the Main Street board at the Jan. 22 city council meeting: Wayne Adickes, former executive director of the Cuero Historical Museum; Alan Kahlich, owner of Anders Auto Supplies; Robert Oliver, executive director of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum; Mildred Weldon, owner of Millie’s on Main; Kerry Rhotenberry, downtown property owner; David Scott, vice president of Duncan-Williams, Inc. and Sonya Timpone, advertising director at the Cuero Record.
At a special city meeting held Feb. 19, council discussed appointing Annette Rath, owner of Main Street Kaffee Haus and Deli, and Beverly Wagner, owner of Wagner’s Hardware and Gifts, to the board.
The board will be working with Bridgette Bise, manager of the Main Street Program. Bise has 17 years of marketing experience with 15 years concentrated in the tourism industry in Texas and Oklahoma. Most recently she served as the economic and community development director for the City of Goliad.
The Main Street Program is a revitalization program for historic downtown and neighborhood commercial districts. It is based on a four-point approach of organization, design, promotion, and economic restructuring, all within the context of historic preservation.
The Main Street office is located in the economic development offices at the new city administration building. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
