Janacek's celebrate 65th wedding anniversary


John and Mary Ann Janacek, former Dewitt County View publishers, were honored by their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary at a come-and-go reception at the Yorktown  Nursing and Rehab Center on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m.
A strawberry-filled cake bearing pictures of the couple taken on the date of their wedding, and at their 60th wedding anniversary, was provided by Mike and Sandy Janacek, and displayed on a table embellished with floral and heart bouquets from Ed and Pam Culpepper, John Michael Janacek, and Keith and Mari Gohlke. Mari provided the party decor for the event.  Other family members assisted with various party activities.
Chicken and tuna salad and cheese sandwiches prepared by Paul and Mary Ann Janacek were served along with punch and coffee, cookies, and kolaches to party celebrants and Yorktown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff and clientele.
John and Mary Ann were married on Monday, Feb. 9, 1948 in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Dubina, Fayette County, Texas.
The honorees celerated their 25th anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 10, 1973, at the American Legion Hall in Yorktown.
The 50th anniversary event was held at Dubina, the place of their marriage, and their 60th anniversary at the Yorktown Fire Station Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008.
Their family of nine children, Pam (Ed) Culpepper, Jake, Mike (Sandy), Rosie (Dave) Floyd, Connie (Phillip) Imes, Peter (Mickey), Paul (Mary Ann), and Mari (Keith) Gohlke,  were all in attendance at their 50th year celebration.  Before that year ended however, daughter Amy Jo Boldt passed away.
The extended family include 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
