Jose G. Reyes, 65, of Cuero went to meet Jesus at his home surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, March 21, 2013.
He was born Feb. 2, 1948 in Robstown to the late Jose Sr. and Guadalupe Cantu Reyes. He married his beloved wife Tomasa Cavazos Reyes on Feb. 3, 1964 in Karnes City. He worked as a dozer operator. He served in the National Guard Army from 1975-1981. He loved spending time raising his game roosters and chickens. He also loved singing and playing the guitar.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Beatrice Pena and husband, Roger, of Yorktown and Diana Pompa and husband, Joel, of Cuero; sons, Ismael Reyes and wife, Janell, of South Carolina, Michael Reyes and wife, Misty, and Gabriel Reyes both of Cuero; sister, Stella Garcia of San Antonio; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, three great-grandchildren, and his infant son, Lupe Reyes Jr.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 25 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Ismael Reyes, Michael Reyes, Gabriel Reyes, Joseph Rodriguez, Robert Reyes and Ismael A. Reyes.
Honorary granddaughters include Samantha Leviqe, Stephanie Gonzales and Stacy Villa.
