Law enforcement in speed chase
Submitted by crecord2010 on
At least four law enforcement agencies were involved in a pursuit Saturday afternoon through DeWitt County.
Although the agencies pursued the vehicle from the Goliad highway to Stratton Road, they eventually stopped because of dangerous speeds.
The report of a white pickup speeding along FM 236 south of Cuero was given by a DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office deputy. That pursuit continued into Cuero. The white pickup spotted getting fuel at a convenience store on Esplanade.
The pickup ran from officers through town and down FM 1447 to Cattle Guard Road.
Most of the law enforcement officers chasing the pickup ended their pursuit because of dangerously high speeds and the driver was driving through fences and pastures near the Lavaca County line.
Attempting to get information on the pickup or driver, the officers reviewed video tape of convenience store.
It was determined the pickup bed was full of what officers suspected to be packaged marijuana.
Also assisting were Department of Public Safety and Texas Parks and Wildlife officers.
