Congressman sees drilling first hand


   When Congressman Filemon Vela returns to Washington, DC in a few days, he will have better picture of what the Eagle Ford Shale means to America.
   Cong. Vela spent Saturday touring DeWitt County’s oilfield with representatives of GeoSouthern Energy Corp.
   Standing on a rig platform, Vela watched as drillers slowly turned a drill bit 11,000 ft. below to travel horizontally along the shale. The landscape was dotted with similar rigs in various stages of drilling in every direction.
   Back on the ground, he talked with GeoSouthern president George Bishop about the impact of EFS on south Texas and the rest  of the U.S.
   On a short break from Washington, Cong. Vela said he came to DeWitt County for information. He said the Texas and Louisiana delegations often have to explain to other representatives the impact the energy industry has on America.
