Tax values may hit $3.7 billion, almost doubling

There were close to 40 agenda items at Monday’s DeWitt County Commissioners meeting. But a report on the increase taxable values in this county took center stage.
Also court approved the appointment of Denise Goebel as the new County Extension Family and Consumer Science Agent.
It is about this time of the year when DeWitt County Appraisal District gives the taxing entities an estimate of what the taxable values will be for the coming budget year.
County Judge Daryl Fowler read the report indicating local values are expected to be between $3.5 billion and $3.7 billion. That compares to the 2012 taxable values of $2 billion which was used for the current year’s budget.
