4-H group going to nationals
Submitted by crecord2010 on
DeWitt County 4-H Shooting Sports began in 2009 with a handful of kids. Through grants from the Friends of the NRA, Cuero Rotary Club and a couple of fund raisers, it was off and running. The Cuero Gun Club has allowed us the use of their facility free of charge and have donated ammunition as well as clay targets. Like any other ammunition, we have had a difficult time even location shotgun shells, much less paying for them. We recently traveled to Conroe to pick up enough to last just a few practices.
We continue to practice several times each month, teaching DeWitt County youths safe handling of firearms, shooting skills and conservation of our natural resources. There approximately 17 kids from age 9-17 that practice with us on a regular basis.
