James R. Karnei

James R. Karnei of Goliad, formerly of Needville, passed away Wednesday, July 3 2013 at the age of 84 years.
He was born April 10, 1929 to Reinhold G. Karnei and Mary (Pfenninger) Karnei. James retired from Houston Lighting and Power Co. (W. A. Parish) after 34 and a half years. He then moved to Goliad to ranch and raise cattle.
James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years 11 months and seven days, Harriet (Huber) Karnei; daughters, Jo Beth Kloecker, Susan Johnston, Grace Hankins and husband Keith, and Sandra Krenek; grandchildren, Valerie Doble (Dennis), Travis Schellberg (Kristy), Brent Kloecker, Patrick Johnston, Morgan Krenek, and Laurel Krenek; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Bailey and Sawyer Schellberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Hertha Chapman (Chip), Waldine Harman (John), Freda Bruns (Sonny); brother, Henry Karnei (Margarete); great-grandson, Mason Doble; son-in-law, Wyatt Holmes; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harry and Agnes Huber.
A visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 5 at Finch Funeral Chapel in Yorktown. The service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church- Weesatche. Pastor C. B. Suggs to officiate with the interment to follow at St. Andrews Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrews Lutheran Church or the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville.
