James Edward McElroy

James Edward McElroy, age 84, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013.
He was born March 23, 1929 in Concrete to James Virgil McElroy and Virgie May Leissner McElroy.
He served in the United States Army and was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He was a farmer and rancher and was a member of the VFW, DeWitt County Pecan Grower’s Association, South Texas Cattleman’s Association, Texas Farm Bureau and Cuero Livestock Show Director.
He is survived by his wife, Betty McElroy; daughter Holly Novosad (Adolph) of Shiner; sons: Larry McElroy (Brenda) of Stockdale, Zane McElroy (Jeannine) of Shiner and Glenn McElroy of Orange; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene Martin of Yoakum.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rosary was held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with the Rev. David Berger officiating. Burial at Nelms Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bradley McElroy, Wesley McElroy, Tyler McElroy, Travis McElroy, James McElroy, Adolph Novosad III, Nicholas Novosad and Stephen Novosad.
Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice or Hospice of South Texas.
