City nears start of street rehab

The City Council held their regular scheduled meeting on Aug. 12 but there was nothing regular about it. Yorktown is about to see some aesthetic improvements around the town as well as some safety measures taken to ward off some theft.
The Economic Development Council (EDC) is purchasing an aerator/fountain to be placed in the creek by the pavilion. The council approved to pay for the installation of the electrical wiring needed for the aerator. City crews will be assisting in the placement of the aerator.
Approval was given for the purchase of locks for some of the fire hydrants in the city due to theft of water from the hydrants on the outskirts of the City.
