Cross country team advances to Saturday regionals

The Cuero Cross Country teams traveled to Giddings for their district competition at Camp Tejas and the results were better than to be expected. In more years than can be remembered, Cuero High School will have a team competing at regionals.
The varsity girls is made up of seven runners; six freshman and one junior. This very young team ran 3200 meters and placed third overall with a total time of 1:08:01.01, just 1:38 shy of first place. With Cuero’s averaging split time of 13:36.21, each runner could take off 20 seconds from their finish time to tie for first.
Alexandra Villafranca said, “It is pretty exciting since we never had a cross country team before.”
