Yorktown makes plans for Habitat house


The citizens of Yorktown may have a  special opportunity to take part in something that has been needed for quite some time. The community is in the beginning stages of building a home for Habitat for Humanity.
“We have a long standing reputation in the county. I have wanted to see homes built outside of Cuero for some time now,” said Frank Ybara, president of Dewitt County Habitat for Humanity. “Yorktown is still in the planning stages. They need volunteers and to get organized.”
Mike Stern and Kalvin Bruns, local residents, have built homes in Victoria and Goliad for Habitat for Humanity. Stern is now heading a sub committee for the Yorktown branch. He said, “What is needed at this time is for Yorktown area residents to volunteer their ideas and suggestions for the Habitat.”
