Gobblers win consolation championship in Moulton


The Cuero High School varsity boys basketball team participated in the Moulton Katz Basketball Classic Dec. 12–14. The Gobblers received the consolation championship. Junior Colby Ebrom was named to the all-tournament team. 
The Gobblers lost the Thorndale game 56–44. The Gobblers lost momentum early, trailing 24–33 by the half after scoring a game-high 13 points in the second quarter.
The Gobblers won the Lexington game 54–33. A 15–4 run during the first quarter allowed the Gobblers to pull ahead, eventually claiming a 35–17 lead by halftime.
The Gobblers won the Somerville game 61–57. With a 30–27 lead at the half, the Gobblers pulled ahead early in the game. Notching 10 points in the first period, Ebrom wasted no time sinking shots for the Gobblers. Gallagher scored 10 points total (2 3-point goals). Also putting points on the board for the Gobblers were Diebel (10 pts), Diaz (5 pts), LaFond (5 pts) and Johnson (2 pts).
