Stolen property from church burglary recovered

Stolen property from the First Baptist Church of Westhoff has been recovered. The church, on U.S. Highway 87, was broken into on Christmas Eve last year. Items missing from the church included a laptop computer and documents pertaining to the church’s history.
Information about the burglary led investigators from the DeWitt County Sheriff’s office to an Oregon man who was living in the area. The investigation revealed the suspect was wanted in Nevada on several outstanding drug-related warrants. He is awaiting extradition back to Nevada.
The investigation was led by Sgt. Carl Bowen.
Due to continuing investigation into other possible crimes, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the suspect’s name at this time.
