Joyce Eichhorn


Joyce Eichhorn, 70, of Yorktown passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014.  She was born on July 16, 1943 in Yorktown and was one of two children born to the late Max Alfred and Mary Esther Mehnert Kelch. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Meyersville. 
She married Norman Carl Eichhorn on Sept. 1, 1963. They had four wonderful children and adopted another during their years together. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Max Alfred (Sonny) Kelch Jr. when he was 8 years old, and husband Norman Eichhorn.
She is survived by her children Loys Feldhousen and husband Bill; Margaret Krause and husband HR; Carl Eichhorn and wife Crystal; Kristine Schroeder and husband David, and Barbara Jaramillo and husband Gregory. Grandchildren Mitchell Ahrens and wife Maira; Brian Ahrens and girlfriend DeNiece; Anthony Ahrens and wife Melissa; Ethan Krause, Evan Krause, Eran Krause, Ryan Eichhorn, Travis Eichhorn, Jonathon Albrecht, Justin Albrecht, Austin Schroeder, Chase Schroeder, Taylor Schroeder, and Matthew Jaramillo and wife Melissa.  Great-Grandchildren Megan & Isabella Jaramillo.
She attended school in Yorktown and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1962. During her junior and senior years, she worked as an aide in the Superintendent’s office, which ultimately led to a long career in the school system. 
She attended Baldwin Business School in Yoakum to get her degree in business administration. Following this achievement, she continued to work for the Yorktown schools as an administrative assistant to the Superintendent for 41 years.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown. Funeral services was at 2 p.m. on Jan. 30, at Massey Funeral Home. Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. 
Pallbearers were Robert Meischen, Jimmy Urban, Gaylan Kaiser, Kenneth Ahrens, Jerry Steves, and Royce Pargmann.
Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Rangnow, Leroy Ruppert, Bill Feldhousen, Russell (Randall) Farrow, Ray Gloor, Danny Threadgill, David Schroeder, and all her grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Meyersville, Yorktown EMS, DeWitt County Senior Citizens Center in Yorktown, American Kidney Fund, or Yorktown FFA Chapter.
