It was a good night for Yorktown basketball Friday night at the Kitty Kat arena and certainly a nail-biting event.
The Kitty Kats came in knowing that they needed a win. They had lost the last five games in their district and did not want to see number six against Runge.
The first half of the game nothing went right for the Kitty Kats. Scoring only two points in the first period it appeared that it was going to be another blow out. The second period Laycee Guerrero and Rylann Williams hit a three pointer each.  The Kitty Kats went eight for 10 in free throws which was half of the points earned in the second period. The half ended with Yorktown behind 18-24.
Coming into the third period it was very physical for these two teams but very little was going into the basket. Maddie Bryand hit two buckets and the team went three for four on the free throw line for a total of seven points.
