Student seeks donations for volunteer efforts

Dear Editor,
My name is Ruby Nicole Boone and I am a junior criminology major and music minor at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. I am on the dean’s list an hold a 3.91 GPA. I am also a StMU president ambassador, president elect of the StMU student band committee and a resident assistant for campus housing. I am writing to see if any of my fellow Cuero family and friends would be interested in helping me raise money so I can go on an alternative spring break trip to New Orleans. During the trip I will be helping Habitat for Humanity rebuild houses that were destroyed from Hurricane Katrina and encourage others to continue rebuilding the communities that were destroyed.
I would like to have this opportunity so I can give back to people who have lost everything and are desperately waiting for a place that they can call their home. There is nothing else I would rather do with my spring break than to serve others in the spirit of the Lord so that they too can feel blessed as I am to have a warm comfortable place to live.
The trip costs $400 and the money will be used for transportation to and from Louisiana, housing, and food for the week. This trip has been origanized by the Civic Engagement office at St. Mary’s University and a number of students from StMU are signed up to volunteer. If you have any further questions about the details of the trip feel free to contact the Civic Engagement office at 210-436-3102.
Honestly, any amount given will be deeply appreciated. Checks/M.O. can be sent to: 815 E. South Railroad St., Cuero, TX 77954 or call Yolanda Boone at 361-275-5806. Deadline is Feb. 28 at noon.
Thank you for your interest and I hope the best for you and your families.
God bless,
Ruby Nicole Boone
