Little League fields almost complete for March 29 opening day ceremonies

Finishing touches are being made to the Little League fields as the March 29 date for the opening day ceremonies approaches. The 2014 season is a record year for the number of players registered to play. Some 150 players for tee-ball and coach pitch alone sets a new record. The total number of players for this season tops 350. If it has been awhile since you have seen a tee-ball game, you will find it the most enjoyable game you will ever see.
A complete infield renovation is complete on the Major League Boys Baseball field. All the grass and 15 year old clay was removed from the field, the ground leveled, new top soil and grass planted, new clay and infield conditioner installed along with new bases and pitcher’s mound. This makes this field one of the best and most up to date Little League baseball fields around.
The Little League Board would like to take this opportunity to thank our local businesses who donated time, materials and funding for the renovation of this field. Thanks to Silvia and Randy Jochin, owners of our local McDonald’s, for their continued support. Clint Clark, his crew, and USI for surveying and marking the field to ensure it is the proper grade. Joe and Joey Adams of O&G Rock, who can always be counted on to support our future Gobblers, donated top soil and sand for the infield. David Danish and the City of Cuero Parks Department for equipment and materials for the project. The Cuero Development Corporation for its donation of funds for the project. Board members Jennifer Parr, Patrick Crain, Michael Pakebush and Jim Hall volunteered their time, hard work, and labor on the renovation.
A special thanks to our entire community for its support of the children of Cuero and the Cuero Little League. It promises to be a full season of great games and competition. Don’t miss out on the fun and excitement.
