Gobblers 2-0 in district after Yoakum game

The Gobblers could not get a single break at bat while playing Giddings at home on March 18 but ultimately earned the 1-0 win.
Cuero baseball coach Phil Schwarz said, “We saw him (Giddings pitcher Brooks Namken) last year. He is a submarine guy and gives you a look that you don’t often see. It’s tough.”
It was not until the bottom of the sixth inning that Cuero got their big break when Clint Davis hit a hard ground ball to right field. Joey Baker was on second base and made a run to home base sliding to the outside to avoid being tagged for the first and only run in the game.
