Outstanding youth and adults from DeWitt County were recently honored at the annual DeWitt County Soil and Water Conservation annual Awards Banquet.
Richard Bettge from Meyersville received the plaque as Conservation Farmer of DeWitt County. Eddie Roeder from the Yorktown area was selected as the Conservation Rancher of DeWitt County in honor of the many years of ranching of his and the Roeder family. Patricia Wessels from Cuero Intermediate School was honored with the award for her innovative ideas of impressing students with the need for conservation. Bill Blackwell of Cuero was honored as Wildlife Conservationist for his outstanding work in reseeding pastures with native seeds in an attempt to not only aid but also increase the population of native quail. An engraved plaque was awarded to each. Tony Franklin, the TSSWCB Field Representative narrated the awards power point presentations for each of the honorees.
