Early voting set for local elections


Early voting for the May 10 city and school elections will be held April 28 through May 6. Those planning to casts ballots during early voting are reminded to have proof of identification.
In the Yorktown City election, incumbents Larry Mueller and Ruben “BB” Garcia have filed for re-election on the council.  City Councilwoman Frances Villa did not file for re-election, which will result in an opening on the council.
According to City Secretary Robert Mendez, an election will still be held concerning the sales maintenance tax.  City Council will address the council vacancy at an upcoming council meeting. 
Early voting will be conducted at Yorktown City Hall located at the corner of South Riedel and Main St. Early voting hours will include from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29. From Wednesday, April 30 through Tuesday, May 6, early voting will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
