Nordheim track team advances to state

It was 23 years ago when Nordheim Independent School District had an athlete compete at the UIL State Track and Field Meet in the Mike A. Meyers Stadium when 100m hurdler Monica Pfeifer took gold. Last year Alyssa Leister broke that silence when she advanced to state and won the silver in the long jump.
But never in Nordheim’s history has a team gone to state. This year Nordheim will have four athletes compete in five events, all hoping to bring home the gold.
Sophomore Stormi Farmer said, “I was an alternate and did not really expect that I would be part of the team. It would never have happened if I was not on the relay team. It is exciting that I get to go.”
Junior Eliza Metting said, “I never thought I could get this far. Previously, as a freshman or sophomore, I did not do so well. This is my first year making it past district.”
